The GIC Supply Chain team manages end-to-end operations, encompassing planning, sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, and analytics. Purpose of the role

General Mills is seeking a strategic and execution-driven Leader– Global Sourcing Capabilities & Sustainability to lead global sourcing operations from our India Capability Centre. This role will oversee both internal Centers of Excellence (COEs) and third-party delivery partners to enable supplier management, sourcing analytics, process optimization, and digital capability building. As a key driver of our global sourcing vision, the individual will focus on advancing strategic tools and processes.

The successful candidate will lead a team of procurement consultants to deliver high-quality, scalable, and future-ready sourcing services that support General Mills’ global operations. This role is accountable for ensuring flawless service delivery across all COE-managed activities, delivered consistently and in line with process standards, by both internal teams and external partners.

In addition, this role is responsible for maintaining strong controls and compliance across Source-to-Pay (S2P) processes. The individual must bring in-depth expertise across various sourcing and procurement functions such as Should cost modelling , Coupa sourcing optimization directly and Spend Management, Supplier Relationship Management, , eSourcing, Market Intelligence and sustainability through a manager who will be leading a team.

This leader must be adept at navigating a complex, matrixed organization—working across global teams and service partners to influence change, drive process excellence, and ensure best-in-class execution. Strong project management skills are essential to lead transitions, capability builds, and new initiatives within the sourcing function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Sr consultants, consultants and manager working across global sourcing operations , capabilities and sustainability.
  • Partner with Global Sourcing Operations and Capabilities (GSOC), Sustainability , Pillar Centers Of Excellence (COE) and Supply Chain team including Global Sourcing executive leadership board members based in North America.
  • Partner on Sourcing Digitalization road map with GSOC team on leading several sub projects through teams and leading directly – like Palantir implementation , Contract management automatization , AI use in sourcing. Also lead implementation and training and development of all GIC sourcing team members.
  • Ensure team partners with different pillars within GIC for example Digital & Technology
  • Define strategy of GSOC team members in should cost modelling and Coupa sourcing Optimization team based on the OGSP and 3 year road of sourcing , align with VP of GSOC , then further work with team to implement the same.
  • Bring external benchmark on sourcing capabilities and help expand maturity of capabilities in GIC
  • Lead global service delivery of Tail spend buying with a third party company , spread across several countries and partner with global stakeholders in market to ensure the savings target is met by the tail spend buyers in addition to stakeholder management , compliance and timeline delivery.
  • Ensure to lead the global service delivery of market intelligence through a third party company and partner with sourcing directors across direct , indirect ,GSOC , ESC in North America and globally on ways of working and process improvement.

Qualification & Requirements

Skills and Experience Required:

This role demands a highly experienced professional with a strong background in procurement excellence , category management experience and stakeholder management experience working with Sr Sourcing Leaders on strategy and improving ways of working ona global level . Specific skills include:

Minimum

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 10-15 years in a leadership position in any of these areas – Global Sourcing Indirect, Procurement Excellence, Global sourcing direct & or Supply Chain
    • Lead a team(including managers) for at least 7 years , which comprised of sourcing professionals / supply chain professionals managing diverse capabilities or categories
    • Has experience of leading global teams through 3rd party companies or global suppliers or outsourced teams
  • Long term Strategy and Digitization
    • Lead strategy and road map for Should cost modelling in alignment with Global Sourcing and ESC team in North America
    • Lead strategy in alignment with GSOC , Sourcing and Deliver team in addition to driving results on Coupa Sourcing tool via team members.
  • Lead Responsible sourcing across the org , in alignment with OU’s , sourcing , ESC and Sustainable sourcing executive board in North America.
  • Partner on co leading and implementing Sourcing Digitalization project across multiple capabilities and softwares- contract management automation , AI for bidding , Palantir for should cost modelling and being the lead to implement and train team members in GIC sourcing.
  • Stakeholder management and expertise
    • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across geographies and functions.
    • Effective at motivating and influencing others while navigating cultural and organizational complexity.
  • Demonstrated success working with cross-functional and cross-regional teams, especially with U.S.-based stakeholders.
  • Experience in the food and CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) industry is a plus. Understanding of global sourcing complexities, regulatory compliance, and sustainability practices in procurement. Proven ability to operate in a global matrixed organization, supporting U.S. time zones and business units. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to influence senior stakeholders remotely.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Sourcing ,Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
  • CIPS ,APICS, CPM, or equivalent procurement certification preferred.
  • 10 years of managerial experience and has managed global teams or stakeholders
  • Led digitalization projects in sourcing or supply chain at a global or regional level.
  • Led transformation through people , process and technology to enable automation.
