Description

Our client is seeking a senior-level Lean Director to architect and drive Lean transformation across their global field service, installation, and commercial group, supporting the global shared services organization. The right candidate will have deep and extensive experience driving Lean transformation in a variety of environments, including a heavy focus on Transactional Process Improvement and Commercial tools. Their role is to embed Lean thinking into the organization’s DNA, ensuring alignment between strategy, execution, and culture.

Location: Remote – US, Switzerland, or India-based

Travel: 50-80% to US and international sites

Senior Director of Lean, Shared Services

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing visionary leadership to the commercial organization (field service and installation) including the setting of strategic goals
  • Ensuring all levels of the company work towards the same objectives by cascading goals down to daily operations using Hoshin Kanri
  • Leading CEO-level Lean transformation activities throughout the year to cultivate a CI toolkit for the 60k field organization
  • Overseeing deployment of the Lean Business System for Global Shared Services including methodologies, tools, and associate process improvement standard work
  • Defining and developing key Growth/Commercial tools in collaboration with shared services teams, business leaders, and peers
  • Applying Lean methodologies to improve end‑to‑end transactional processes, including Record‑to‑Report, Hire‑to‑Retire, Procure‑to‑Pay, Order‑to‑Cash, and IT service delivery
  • Establishing Lean governance structures, performance dashboards, and sustainment mechanisms
  • Collaborating closely with the shared services and commercial executive leadership teams to drive strategic initiatives
  • Acting as a liaison between the executive team and key stakeholders, ensuring transparent and effective communication
  • Establishing, deploying, and curating all program standards, including methods and tools
  • Identifying and mitigating risks, ensuring the organization’s long-term sustainability and success
  • Directly managing a global team of Lean Practitioners embedded in regional and functional shared service centers, ensuring consistent capability, deployment quality, and results
  • Coach and develop other Lean practitioners and senior leadership to model Lean behaviors
  • Developing and providing advanced-level, formalized Lean training; setting the vision for a thoughtful training schedule by persona while working directly with field teams

Qualification & Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Quality, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in Continuous Improvement including strong experience driving Transactional Process Improvement and Commercial tools in shared services or multiple types of transactional environments
  • Experience driving Lean transformation in large scale enterprise or shared services transformations
  • Experience in leading, training, and coaching Lean methods and tools including 80/20, Lean Leadership, Daily Management, KPI Leadership, Standard Work, Gemba Walks, Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Transactional Process Improvements, Kanban/replenishment systems, Structured Problem Solving, VOC, Customer Segmentation, Strategic Pricing, Sales Funnel Management, Value Selling, etc.
  • Significant experience leading business transformation projects including a track record of delivering tangible, recognized business and customer results
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, strong business acumen, and ability to align change management approach to business needs
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to establish rapport, provide training, and collaborate with all levels of the organization
