The job description involves leading and establishing the IT function for an offshore centre, with key responsibilities including strategic planning, operational management, and team leadership. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and own IT business plans that reflect the demand and strategic requirements of the business. Understand business strategy, business processes and information.
  • Needs to exploit IT and enable the business to deliver against its plans.
  • Drive innovative thinking, encouraging the business to look outside of the box and make the impossible possible, aiding internal and external customer engagement.
  • Build relationships with peers across DP World and the broader Group technology team, influence their ways of working in a matrix model, promoting the benefits of new approaches.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders beyond technology in a complex, multi-division business.
  • Communicate and promote a vision to a diverse range of people, both technical and non-technical, and at a variety of levels.
  • Drive and shape ideas in a changing, sometimes ambiguous environment and remain resilient in the face of adversity.
  • Act in a strategic capacity but also be willing to get ‘hands dirty’ whenever necessary.
  • Define the GSC’s vision, operational model, and delivery strategy in alignment with the parent company’s global objectives.
  • Establishment and Management: Oversee the end-to-end setup and management of the IT GSC, including legal, real estate, and initial operations.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure efficient, high-quality service delivery against service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Team Leadership: Provide executive leadership to a multidisciplinary team across areas like applications, infrastructure, data, and security. Demonstrate strong people skills, outstanding communication and ability to influence without direct control. Being comfortable operating in a matrix environment will be key. Naturally personable and affable day by day, highly resilient and robust.
  • Financial Management: Manage the GSC’s P&L and financial aspects, including profitability and tax-related responsibilities.
  • Innovation and Transformation: Drive digital transformation, innovation, and continuous process improvement within the GSC.
  • Talent Management: Develop and execute hiring, onboarding, and career development frameworks to build and retain a high-performing workforce.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong partnerships with global executives and business stakeholders to ensure alignment.
  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure adherence to all relevant corporate governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Extensive experience in IT leadership, with significant experience in building and managing offshore delivery centres or GSCs.
  • Collaborate with Group IT and work with Capability teams and manage rollouts of key applications, automation initiatives and drive change management.
  • Strong business acumen and financial management skills, including P&L ownership and tax management.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and develop large, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Deep understanding of IT service delivery, operations, and technology trends.
  • Experience with strategic planning, product roadmaps, and performance management.
  • Familiarity with relevant legal and regulatory compliance, and a solid understanding of the local business environment.
  • Post-graduation qualification desirable with IT Certifications like PgMP, COBIT, etc.
  • Extensive senior level IT Management experience with a strong track record in IT Portfolio management.
  • Previous experience operating in a CIO, IT Director or similar senior level IT leadership capacity.
  • Track record working with a global vision across complex multi-site territories. Applicants originating from heavy industry or an industrial asset rich environment would be looked upon favourably.
  • Experience of managing or steering large scale, complex programmes and projects.
  • Driving change and transformational initiatives and overseeing to successful implementation. Ability to conceptualise, launch and deliver multiple IT programme streams on time, within budget and to business expectation.
  • Commercially broad. Able to engage and manage demanding third parties as well as offshore partners. Ability to build credibility and relationships with senior business leaders. First class business engagement and stakeholder management skills essential. Impeccable leadership and communication skills. The ability to persuade and influence will be crucial.
