Description
The Finance Shared Service Center (FSSC) Leader will be responsible for overseeing and managing all financial shared service operations based in Manila, Philippines. This critical role will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of finance processes, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, treasury operations, trust accounts and financial reporting support for various Australian clients and internal customers within the insurance group. The FSSC Leader will drive operational excellence, process standardization, continuous improvement, and foster a high-performance team culture.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Operations Management:
- Lead, manage, and optimize the end-to-end finance shared service operations, ensuring high-quality, timely, and accurate delivery of services in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the FSSC, aligning with the global finance strategy and overall business objectives of the insurance group.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations, including resource planning, workload management, and performance monitoring.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process automation, re-engineering, and continuous improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, corporate policies, and relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., IFRS, local GAAP, insurance-specific regulations).
- Ensure compliance with ASIC/APRA across all related entities.
- Monitor capital adequacy, liquidity requirements, and financial risks
- Compliance with local tax requirements
- Manage relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., business units, corporate finance, IT) and external partners.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance shared service team.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages growth, learning, and accountability.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide regular feedback, and identify training and development needs for team members.
- Drive talent acquisition and retention strategies for the FSSC.
Stakeholder Management & Communication:
- Act as the primary point of contact for finance shared service matters for global stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with senior management, business leaders, and external auditors regarding FSSC performance, challenges, and initiatives.
- Collaborate with global finance teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment of processes.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks within the FSSC.
- Support internal and external audit requirements.
Technology & Systems:
- Leverage financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday, insurance-specific platforms) to optimize processes and enhance data accuracy.
- Collaborate with IT to implement and upgrade financial systems and tools.
Budget & Financial Management:
- Manage the FSSC budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource optimization.
- Provide regular reports on FSSC performance against key metrics and targets.
Business Growth and Strategy Leadership & Team Development
- As the most senior SBS Finance leader in Philippines, support the business growth and new customer acquisitions.
- Lead the strategy development to continuously enhance our Finance Service offerings and products.
- A part of the SBS Senior Leadership Team, support broader organisational strategy development and initiatives .
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and commercial acumen.
Qualification & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master’s degree or professional certification CPA is required.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 5-7 years in a leadership role within a large-scale Finance Shared Service Center or BPO, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and optimizing complex financial processes in a shared services environment.
- Strong understanding of insurance industry financial operations, including claims processing, policy administration, reinsurance, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Extensive experience with financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday) and a strong aptitude for leveraging technology to drive process improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop large teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of an organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
- In-depth knowledge of internal controls and financial compliance frameworks.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate global time zones as needed.
