Description
The Strategic Campus Planning department within Facilities and Business Operations is seeking a Director of Business Services II. This role serves as the operational leader for the Business Services unit, overseeing campus service operations including food and beverage programs, the bookstore, and vending. The director engages with internal and external stakeholders to ensure services are delivered with quality, efficiency, and impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for Business Services, including: Food and beverage programs (vending, cold beverage pouring rights, third-party catering); Bookstore management; Retail and other auxiliary services.
- Partner with the Associate Vice President for Strategic Campus Planning to: Develop and implement business plans and annual operating budgets for each auxiliary unit; Monitor financial performance through quarterly reviews and year-end projections; Manage cash reserves, capital replacement strategies, and revenue bond reporting; Strengthen fiscal stewardship through internal controls, monthly audits, and compliance.
- Oversee third-party vendor contracts, ensuring compliance with performance standards. Act as the university’s lead negotiator for all auxiliary service agreements.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for new initiatives, revenue growth, and service enhancements. Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate success.
- Stay informed on industry trends to foster innovation and continuous improvement. Ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery through assessments, vendor oversight, and proactive issue resolution. Serve as the senior escalation point for major customer or service concerns.
- Represent the university at state and national associations, conferences, and peer networking events to share best practices and build partnerships.
- Administer and enforce university policies and procedures related to auxiliary services. Ensure alignment with institutional goals and compliance with all applicable regulations.
Qualification & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years of leadership experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in business services, auxiliary operations, or related fields (e.g., retail, food services, or facilities management).
- Demonstrated success in developing and managing large, complex budgets with multiple revenue streams.
- Experience negotiating, managing, and monitoring third-party vendor contracts.
- Strong track record of implementing strategic initiatives that improved efficiency, financial performance, or customer service.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and aligning auxiliary services with institutional goals.
- Familiarity with higher education environments and shared governance structures, with relationship-building skills to engage various stakeholders (students, faculty, staff, external partners).
- Knowledge of revenue bond financing, capital planning, and long-term financial forecasting.
- Master’s degree in business administration, finance, higher education administration, or a related field.
- Professional involvement with relevant associations (e.g., NACAS, NACUBO).

- The anticipated salary range for this position is $104,664 to $156,996. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
- This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
- Schedule may vary based on events and business needs, including evening and weekend coverage.
- Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
