Description

As an I&IT Project Manager with IT Source, you’ll lead a range of impactful I&IT initiatives – from agile digital solutions to foundational infrastructure projects. Your work will support government priorities and improve services that touch the lives of Ontarians every day.

Assignments will vary in length and location, offering the flexibility to work on different projects and with various ministry clients throughout the GTA and Oshawa. This variety ensures that the work remains engaging and challenging, allowing for the building of a broad range of experiences and expertise.

Work Arrangements: While the home base will be at 222 Jarvis Street, Toronto, or 33 King Street West, Oshawa, there will be opportunities to work at different ministry client sites across the GTA. Alternative work arrangements, including flexible hours, hybrid remote work, and compressed work weeks, are offered to help maintain a healthy work-life balance.

I&IT Project Manager

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead high-performing teams of technical and business professionals in a matrixed environment, enabling both agile and waterfall delivery approaches
  • Consult with clients, stakeholders, and senior leadership to align project goals and provide advice that supports successful delivery
  • Champion collaboration, innovation, and adaptability to help teams and stakeholders overcome challenges and accelerate results
  • Ensure systems are delivered in line with established methodologies, meeting business needs while staying within scope, budget, and timelines
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor key project management artifacts
  • Apply a digital mindset to lead medium to large-scale I&IT projects that advance government priorities and improve public service delivery

Qualification & Requirements

Project management knowledge and skills

You have:

  • knowledge of project management methodologies (waterfall, agile, hybrid) across all IT project phases
  • experience developing project charters, plans, metrics, and managing project budgets
  • expertise in risk management, change management, and coordinating system development activities
  • the ability to manage project scope, timelines, resources, and vendor relationships
  • experience leading application development projects using both custom-built and off-the-shelf solutions
  • experience overseeing all project phases and allocating resources effectively
  • proven ability to lead diverse teams and ensure timely, cost-effective project outcomes
  • experience providing direction through project schedules, plans, budgets, and procurement processes
  • experience negotiating project scope, timelines, and costs with clients
  • the ability to track scope changes, assess their impacts, and offer recommendations
  • experience participating in architecture reviews and offering solution options

Stakeholder and client relationship management

You can:

  • gather business and technical requirements while managing stakeholder expectations
  • promote and market I&IT systems, consult with vendors, consultants and peers in the IT community
  • offer strategic advice on IT solutions that support business planning and improvement initiatives
  • navigate complex discussions through negotiation and conflict resolution, fostering strong working relationships
  • engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders throughout all phases of the project lifecycle

Technical knowledge

You have:

  • understanding of multi-platform IT environments, systems development, and operations management
  • awareness of emerging technologies and their application to business needs
  • the ability to assess and recommend IT solutions aligned with business goals
  • knowledge of I&IT security, infrastructure, and architecture standards

Communication and interpersonal skills

You have:

  • communication, negotiation, and mediation skills to determine client needs, deliver presentations, and resolve conflicts
  • persuasion and advisory skills to resolve issues with stakeholders and recommend effective actions
  • ability to build and manage effective relationships with various stakeholders
  • proven team-building and leadership skills to engage, motivate, and guide project teams
  • ability to develop and sustain effective working relationships
