Description

Huntsman currently has an immediate opening for a dynamic individual with proven capability as a Regional EHS Manager for corporate EH&S.

In this role as a Regional EHS Manager for the Americas, you will work in a matrix organization with shared responsibility for the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) function supporting multiple sites across the US. .

The primary responsibilities include ensuring all activities performed within the region are compliant with Huntsman’s EHS standards and all applicable legislation and regulations while employing appropriate, efficient, effective and consistent controls in the management and execution of all business activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides support to indirect management and functional leadership to all EHS professionals at assigned sites while being responsible for identifying training and development needs for these EHS staff and to ensure this is completed in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for identifying the needs for professional EHS support for each site, and where this cannot be provided locally, for liaising with and agreeing, and subsequently monitoring, a program of support within the Corporate EHS Shared Services teams.
  • Responsibilities also include EHS communication, the sharing of best practices, learning from EHS incidents, leverage of EHS training programs and the sharing of EHS experience and knowledge across the Americas region Regularly hold EHS team meetings to ensure effective communication and harmonization of practices between the facilities.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with regulatory officials to ensure good working relationships between Huntsman and the various governmental agencies.
  • Work closely with the sites to identify the E/SI and E/S2 projects according to the agreed criteria.
  • Engage in Corporate support activities which could involve procedural and policy development, audit, incident investigations, corporate initiatives etc. as required.

Qualification & Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or Chemistry. A Master’s Degree in these fields are a plus. 10+ years related experience in a combination of management, leadership, EHS, operations management, engineering, project management, R&D or maintenance is essential.

Specific Skills and Knowledge:

  • Must have exceptional leadership capability to plan, direct and coordinate diverse activities and technical functions.
  • Ability to identify and define problems, develop alternative solutions and develop a recommended course of action
  • Determine specific activities and programs to achieve objectives as provided by senior management.
  • Ability to lead through influence.
