Description
The Commercial Performance Director will play a pivotal role at the core of Commercial Shared Services (CSS), driving the alignment of CSS activity with Aldermore’s Group Strategy and business goals. This role is central to shaping and advancing business line strategies, ensuring CSS delivers a unified, consistent view of its contribution across the Group.
By providing strategic guidance that balances commercial ambition with regulatory expectations, the Director will help unlock sustainable value for the Group, our business lines, customers, and intermediaries. The role will champion performance measurement and demonstrate the tangible impact of CSS, reinforcing its role as a value-adding, commercially focused partner.
A key responsibility will be to lead the ongoing prioritisation and review of CSS activity, using strategic insight to ensure agility and responsiveness to shifting business needs. This dynamic approach will support decision-making that’s both forward-looking and adaptable.
As a senior leader within the CSS team, the Commercial Performance Director will work closely with Executive Committee and Director-level stakeholders, building trust, influence, and credibility. The role also involves matrix leadership across a broad stakeholder base, driving alignment through the annual planning cycle and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive planning and performance excellence by leading the development of a robust CSS planning and measurement framework, ensuring high standards in reporting and performance oversight are maintained across the function.
- Deliver meaningful insight and impact through the design and implementation of monitoring tools and metrics that identify performance trends early, inform rectification plans, and help quantify the commercial value of CSS activity.
- Be a strategic business partner, aligning CSS activity and resources to Group Strategy and business line priorities. You’ll lead development of the annual CSS operating plan and help shape enterprise-wide strategic initiatives through data-driven insights.
- Influence at senior levels by building trusted relationships across the Group, including with Executives and senior leaders. You’ll advise on performance challenges and collaborate on action plans that keep targets on track.
- Inspire and empower a high-performing team, providing coaching and leadership to managers who oversee planning, prioritization, and performance delivery across CSS.
- Stay ahead of the market, leading competitive and environmental analysis to identify strategic opportunities, and sharing actionable insight that supports growth and informs decisions at Executive Committee and Board level.
Qualification & Requirements
- Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen, capable of simplifying complex problems and making sound, data-informed decisions that drive business growth and long-term value.
- Inspiring and emotionally intelligent leader, with a transformational leadership style that motivates teams, builds trust, and fosters a culture of coaching, feedback, and continuous development.
- Exceptional communicator and influencer, able to deliver clear, engaging messages and build trusted relationships at all levels—internally and externally—through a high level of interpersonal and political awareness.
- Highly organized and resilient under pressure, skilled at managing multiple priorities and navigating change with discipline, agility, and a strong delivery mindset.
- Collaborative and relationship-driven, naturally working across boundaries to achieve results, constructively challenging when needed, and comfortable operating in flat, fast-paced environments.
- Values-led and driven by integrity, demonstrating sound judgment, high standards, and a strong personal commitment to going the extra mile to make a meaningful impact.
Benefits
- A friendly and flexible culture, the same as how we work with our customers.
- A growing organisation that means there’s lots of opportunities to progress
- A drive for continuous improvement, which you will be empowered to get behind from day one.
- And of course, you will be rewarded competitively, with a good range of core benefits and bonus potential.
