Description

The Senior Manager, Cost Management Centre of Excellence (COE) at Standard Chartered GBS will enable business owners, function heads, and senior management with data and analysis support to understand, assess, verify, and challenge business performance related aspects (Cost, Revenue, investments, and Headcount)

Senior Manager, Cost Control & Management COE

Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Analysis and Transparency: Perform cost driver analysis, ensure accurate cost allocation and regular reporting / tracking, analyze and provide clarity on incurred and allocated charges, enabled through detailed financial models
  • Cost Optimization and Benchmarking: Develop cost optimization plans with execution focus, provide benchmarking across peers and drive deep dives into significant cost category for potential cost savings
  • Demographics Analysis & Headcount management: Perform Headcount and productivity analysis including benchmarking against peers, evaluate as-is landscape (e.g., location footprint, spans & layers) to optimize teams as per the strategy, monitor hiring against the corporate plans and budgets, develop Front to Back view of resources supporting business.
  • Budget / Forecast Tracking & Planning: Financial planning and forecasting, drive accurate cost budget setting, establish effective forecasting mechanism, track cost against budget and forecast, understand drivers for overrun and flag thematic issues.
  • Senior management presentation – Develop C-suite friendly presentations with crisp and clear messaging, summarising data across multiple sources, with action items

Qualification & Requirements

Skills and Requirements:

  • 6+ years’ experience in banking/consulting (with global banks) with cost control/optimization focus
  • Strong understanding of front-office cost drivers, banking products & P&L
  • Advanced Excel / financial modelling skills
  • Experience with dashboards (Tableau / Power BI) is preferred.
  • Prior team management experience is a plus.
  • Strategic thinking mindset and ability to logically structure and process data into meaningful and actionable recommendations
  • Excellent communication, presentation and documentation skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to proactively identify opportunities and drive results
