Description
The Director of Shared Services is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the Design, DevOps, and Quality Assurance (QA) functions across the organization. This role ensures that shared service lines operate with high efficiency, deliver consistent quality, and evolve to support business growth.
This leader will coordinate across departments to ensure shared functions are not only responsive to delivery needs but also operate as scalable, high-performing units. The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of operational rigor, service leadership, and a growth-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Oversight of Shared Services
- Lead and manage the heads of Design, DevOps, and QA functions.
- Define the vision, objectives, and success metrics for each shared service line.
- Align services with company-wide goals, delivery models, and client expectations.
Operational Efficiency & Service Scalability
- Design and implement strategies to improve utilization, productivity, and cost-effectiveness across shared teams.
- Ensure proper staffing, capacity planning, and resource allocation in line with business needs.
- Standardize tools, processes, and reporting to enable scalable operations.
Quality & Delivery Excellence
- Ensure that all shared services meet or exceed quality standards across all projects.
- Establish clear quality metrics and governance models across Design, QA, and DevOps.
- Support project teams by embedding shared services early in the delivery lifecycle.
Talent Development & Capability Building
- Collaborate with Capability Leads to ensure each shared function evolves with the market (e.g., AI in Design, test automation, CI/CD best practices).
- Identify and address skills gaps across shared teams.
- Promote internal mobility and upskilling to increase resilience and engagement.
Business Growth & Contribution
- Run shared services as a business unit, managing the P&L with a focus on efficiency, value delivery, and internal client satisfaction.
- Identify new services or offerings that can drive additional value for clients or internal teams.
- Ensure shared services contribute to margin improvement and business scalability.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the central point of contact for delivery, product, and executive stakeholders regarding shared service performance.
- Actively manage feedback loops with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and continuous improvement.
- Represent shared services in strategic planning and transformation initiatives.
Qualification & Requirements
- 10+ years of professional experience in technology or digital organizations, including at least 5 years in leadership roles overseeing shared functions such as QA, DevOps, and/or Design.
- Strong track record of managing cross-functional teams in a technology-driven, fast-paced environment.
- Proven experience scaling shared services and driving operational excellence across multiple departments.
- Familiarity with modern development and delivery practices (e.g., Agile, CI/CD, test automation, AI-assisted workflows).
- Business acumen and experience managing budgets, utilization, and P&L for service units.
- Strong process mindset with experience standardizing tools and reporting practices for efficiency and scalability.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with a strong ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Fluent English, both written and verbal, with the ability to represent shared services in executive meetings and strategic discussions.
