Description

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing professional accounting activities within the Chemicals division Financial Shared Services organization. This includes the consolidation and analysis of financial data, application of accounting principles, and ensuring accurate classification and recording of financial transactions in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Key responsibilities may include preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, managing cash forecasting and planning, and supporting the monthly close process. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, a strong focus on continuous process improvement, development and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs), and leadership of the accounting team to drive alignment with organizational goals.

Financial Shared Services Accounting Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing global payment processing and troubleshooting as well as the freight payables organization
  • Maintain financial reports, records and general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, analyses and account reconciliations, and support our internal and external financial reporting requirements
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls, policies and procedures and support Treasury with cash forecasting and planning
  • Monitor and maintain financial information in ERP systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations
  • Participate in the monthly accounting close process

Qualification & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree*; Accounting discipline preferred; Master’s Degree* preferred; CMA or CPA preferred
  • M inimum of 6 years of related general accounting experience; preferred background experience in GAAP and SOX policies and procedures, general ledger systems, and auditing practices; public accounting background preferred
  • S trong Excel skills and proven experience in financial modeling and decision analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
  • Experience in Manufacturing /Industrial environment strongly preferred; experience in chemical industry preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership experience required in directing work, driving, results, and planning and aligning work; Supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Prior Olin experience preferred
