Description

This role is ideal for the experienced Operational Risk professional who would like to take a leadership role, in the evolution of the capability across RBC.

Reporting to the VP Operational Risk Shared Services, you will lead a multi-skilled team of risk management professionals to translate our strategic vision into an executable ORM program roadmap.

You will work collaboratively with partners from all lines of defense, across all non-financial risk categories to ensure the ORM program embeds both industry best practices and regulatory expectations and encourages the required risk management behaviours / culture.

You will also lead the continued maturing of Operational Risk Capital and Stress Testing practices.

Senior Director, Operational Risk Practices, Capital and Stress Testing

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and ongoing maintenance of the operational risk program, associated tools and methodology in a manner that considers both internal and external best practices as well as RBC’s operational resiliency.
  • Develop and set the vision for the operational risk programs supporting RBC’s Operational Risk Management strategy with a focus on Internal & External Events, Scenarios, Change, and Non-Financial Risk Appetite practices.
  • Cultivate a deep and broad relationship network across OR and RBC both to inform the design of initiatives but also to act as a culture carrier – embodying the OR transformation vision.
  • Provide leadership over execution of Operational Risk Stress Testing and Capital Practices.
  • Provide expert advice on operational risk, leveraging insights from operational risk reporting and analytics, independent reviews and industry perspective to ensure RBC’s operational risk program maintains a forward-looking view that considers both managed and emerging risks.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the Operational Risk Senior Management Team
  • Lead a team of operational risk professionals and drive a culture of integrity and behaviors that align to RBC’s Code of Conduct and professional standards.

Qualification & Requirements

Must-have

  • At least 15 years’ experience in risk management, deep knowledge of banking regulatory requirements and best practices related to risk management practices globally
  • Expert in risk management methodologies
  • Highly proficient in stakeholder management, change management, strategy development, people management
  • Experience leading a large and/or complex global or cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to build sustainable, trusted relationships in a matrixed organization
  • Excellent leadership and influencing skills

Nice-to-have

  • Stress Testing or Capital experience
  • Direct operational risk management experience
