Description
Build and adapt organizations (Malaysia, Singapore & Sri Lanka) that answer current and future customer needs.
Overall responsibility (including Sales, Project Execution, Customer Service, Finance and HR) for Malaysia, Singapore & Sri Lanka.
Accountable for healthy local finances and overall results including meeting budget for sales revenue (turnover) and bottom line, costs, capital investment etc.
Compliance with local (Malaysia, Singapore & Sri Lanka) regulations, taxation laws and risk management.
Act and make decisions within scope of responsibility and authority of Bühler group directives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategically
- Plan and implement actions for short and mid-term growth according to targets.
- Good understanding of market needs and challenges as well as competition in order to develop a profitable and sustainable business model.
- Develop new business opportunities through market studies and strategic collaboration with business units (BU).
- Establish and maintain good business relationships with customers, authorities and political bodies, where applicable.
- Find alignment with the rest of the Bühler Asia organization for support in Sales/ Quotation as well as Customer Service & Project Execution.
- Maintain communication with various BU’s (regional & global) to align the market strategy.
Operationally
- Ensure the proper legal set-up to do the necessary business.
- Key account management.
- Lead sales team and take personal care of key accounts.
- Oversee marketing activities including customer events, exhibitions and sales seminars.
- Regular business review with local team to follow-up on sales opportunities.
- Ensure SOM & CRM systems are updated regularly by sales team.
- Understand the needs of our customers and develop solutions accordingly.
- Ensure necessary local business opportunities are generated to finance the local set-up.
People Development and Succession
- Development of a strong local Management team who would ensure recruitment and development of a local team that works effectively and productively.
- Ensure that all employees have proper learning and development plan reviewed yearly during EPM to develop relevant competencies and skills for their role.
- Develop local successors for key positions.
Qualification & Requirements
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Optimal cost and resources planning.
- Good personnel resource management.
- Customer analysis – proactive identification and understanding of customer needs.
- Market analysis – identification of future markets, differentiated market development, and creation of business plans.
- Competitive analysis – evaluation of competitive advantage of the most important competitors
- Build and maintenance of a systematic, strategic relationship network.
- Strong leadership including clear direction setting, ability to motivate team and make tough decisions in challenging times.
- High in accountability and integrity.
- Results driven.
- Strong business acumen with some knowledge of finance and local accounting.
- Ability to influence across all levels, with a healthy dose of assertiveness to gain collaboration.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, including good oral and written English.
- Comfortable working in a matrix organization with different cultures.
Education & Experience
- Degree in Engineering or Business Management.
- At least 10 years of leadership function in technical sales or commercial management in capital goods industry.
- Track records of driving growth and building strong customer relationships in technical products.
- Good understanding and experience with grain or food processing plants.
