Description

Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Schools the IT director will oversee and manage school district (“district”) technology and information systems. The IT Director will develop, implement, coordinate and oversee all educational and administrative technology programs and systems in the district. The IT Director will also provide technology services to the Town’s Safety Complex, per the Shared Services Agreement between the school and the town.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation and management of all educational and administrative technology programs and systems in the district.
  • Provide continuous coordination and evaluation of district-wide technology programs and systems.
  • Assist in the preparation of professional development plan(s).
  • Oversee the integration of technology into al curricula areas.
  • Oversee hardware and software training for all staff.
  • Prepare the annual technology budget in coordination with the Superintendent.
  • Prepare all town, district, state and federal technology data reports.
  • Oversee the configuration, expansion and management of the Wide Area network and Local Area Networks.
  • Oversee the installation, update and configuration of district and safety complex software and systems.
  • Maintain the security of all district technology systems.
  • Oversee technical support of all district technology systems.
  • Monitor technology improvements for compliance to state and federal regulations.
  • Review and approve all district hardware and software purchases in conjunction with the Superintendent.
  • Preparation of purchase orders for hardware and software purchases.
  • Maintain detailed district-wide hardware and software inventory.
  • Be familiar and remain current with changes and developments in technology.
  • Maintain district web services including the web server.
  • Manage all district data including student information.
  • Coordinate all audio/visual needs in the district.
  • Facilitate the development of and/or prepare proposals for funding technology-related projects (Grants).
  • Review and coordinate acquisition procedures and plans as they relate to technology.
  • Represent the district as requested at regional and statewide meetings.
  • Serve as liaison with Rhode Island Department of Education, private sector and other agencies.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
  • Support town-wide technology initiatives and coordination when the school or safety complex is impacted, to the extent authorized by the Superintendent of Schools.
  • Ensure contingency backup is in place should this position be vacated for any reason, or should IT Director take leave.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Maintains a cooperative relationship with all personnel within the educational and town setting.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required
  • Perform any and all other duties as prescribed by the Superintendent of Schools.
  • Strong technical background in design and application of technology systems, including Wide Area Networks, Local Area Networks, administrative and classroom technology, workstation and server management, database management and reporting, website development and maintenance, system integration and administrative software necessary to operate a public school district.
  • At least three (3) years successful experience in a technology leadership and supervisory role in education/technology (preferred).
  • Experience with Munis (preferred)
  • Must pass National BCI check.
  • Must adhere to all district and Town policies.
