Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for all operational logistics components.
  • Oversee procurement activities and negotiate strategic partnerships with carriers to optimize transportation costs and service levels.
  • Champion the integration of new technologies to improve operational visibility, streamline processes, and enhance data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead the development and execution of customer service initiatives, fostering a culture of responsiveness and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Partner with the CFO to develop and monitor budgets, implement cost-control measures, and drive overall financial performance.
  • Provide strategic direction for human resources activities, including talent acquisition, employee development, and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and standards, such as those related to safety and environmental sustainability.
  • Implement risk management processes to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks.
  • Develop and maintain quality assurance programs (QMS/HSE) to ensure consistent service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics to monitor and evaluate operational effectiveness.
  • Empower Departmental Leaders (Customer Request Management & Pricing, Operations & Project Management, Heavy Haul & Engineering) through mentorship and professional development.
  • Foster collaboration and continuous learning across departments.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by implementing and maintaining safety protocols.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior leadership role within the logistics industry.
  • Proven track record of improving operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Deep understanding of supply chain management principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with team members, stakeholders, and partners.
