Description

The Executive Director of Human Resources (HR) Shared Services is responsible for leading and managing a centralized HR function, focused on delivering efficient and cost-effective HR services across the enterprise. This role focuses on strategic planning and delivery, support of key stakeholder initiatives, operational efficiency, optimizing HR processes, and ensuring compliance while delivering excellent service to colleagues, HR Business Partners and other key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement HR shared services strategies, policies, and procedures to support the enterprise and HR’s overall goals.
  • Operational Management: Oversees the day-to-day operations of the HR shared services functions, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of HR services. Specific functional responsibilities include Health and Welfare Programs, Retirement Programs, Enterprise Leave of Absence Programs, HR Business Partner support management and Records Management / Fulfillment services.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously identifies and implements process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve the overall stakeholder and colleague experience.
  • Technology and System Management: Partners with supporting IT functions for the selection, implementation, and maintenance of HR technology and systems and tools.
  • Compliance: Knowledge of and ensures compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies related to HR. This would include all ERISA plans, leave of absence plans, an understanding of merger, acquisition and divestiture rules and deep understanding of Human Resources policies.
  • Vendor Management: Manages relationships with HR vendors and ensures they are delivering on agreed-upon all contractual obligations and service level agreements.
  • Team Leadership: Leads and develops the HR shared services team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, including HR business partners, senior management, and colleagues.
  • Financial Management: Responsible for the functional HR shared services budget, ensuring it is aligned with the organization’s financial targets and goals. Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives within the HR shared services function.
  • Performance Measurement: Tracks and analyzes key performance indicators (SLAs and KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of HR shared services and identify areas for improvement.
  • Reporting: Develop and maintain accurate HR reporting and metrics to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Customer Service: Ensure a high level of customer service (all points of service) and satisfaction for both employees and HR business partners.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Leadership and Management Skills: Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate, develop and manage a high-performing team. Solid communication skills are essential.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement HR strategies that align with the enterprise’s goals and initiatives.
  • Process Improvement: Strong understanding of process improvement methodologies and the ability to identify and implement improvements.
  • Technology Proficiency: Proficiency in HR technology and systems, including Workday, Service Now, HR reporting, utilization of AI for Human Resources and other related support tools.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Financial Acumen: Understanding of HR budgeting and financial management.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data and metrics to measure performance and identify trends / areas for continuous improvement.
  • Project Management: Experience managing Human Resources HR projects and initiatives both at the enterprise level and across all Human Resource functions.

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in HR Operations and leadership
  • Proven stakeholder management
  • Superior knowledge of all HR principles, processes and practices including utilization of HR technology, federal and state labor and employment laws, ERISA plans.
  • Project management, including stakeholder engagement and program execution, change management expertise and communication skills.
  • Prior experience with HR Transformation including a focus on HR strategies, systems, and services to improve efficiency and enhance the colleague experience.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, business administration, or a related field is required.
  • MBA preferred.
  • SHRM, SHRM-SCP, HRCI-SPHR and / or other HR accreditations preferred.
