Description
The Senior Manager, Payroll is responsible for leading the payroll function to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing. This role requires close coordination with internal teams and external partners to maintain seamless integration between Workday (HRIS), CDK (accounting), and other systems.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Oversight
- Supervise managers, assistant managers, and staff in:
- Preparing, documenting, and disbursing weekly and semi-monthly payrolls.
- Maintaining payroll systems aligned with HR and Benefits, including deferred compensation and ESPPs.
- Managing payroll operations: new hires, terminations, salary changes, garnishments.
- Addressing employee inquiries on payroll matters (e.g., withholdings, vacation balances, paycheck errors).
- Ensuring payroll database accuracy and confidentiality.
- Posting accruals and reconciling payroll to the general ledger.
People Management
- Hire, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate payroll team members.
- Communicate expectations and provide performance feedback.
- Recommend compensation actions and enforce policy compliance.
Operational Excellence
- Implement and monitor productivity and quality standards (e.g., KPIs).Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Resolve operational issues and identify system enhancements.
Compliance & Controls
- Uphold internal accounting controls and confidentiality protocols.
- Support organizational goals by delivering accurate and secure payroll services.
Qualification & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of payroll experience, including 10+ years in a supervisory role.
- Proficiency with Workday.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive, urgency-driven mindset.
