Description

The Senior Manager Actuarial Analytics is responsible for producing pricing, forecasting, and reserving deliverables. This requires coaching and priority setting for direct reports as well as collaboration across multiple departments to achieve organizational objectives.

The Senior Manager Actuarial Analytics functions as a technical resource and as a mentor to all within the Actuarial department. The Senior Manager must maintain an understanding of the changing health care and actuarial trends and how they impact the organization. This role must remain current on government regulation and guidance as well as analytic techniques and methodologies, data sources.

Senior Manager Actuarial Analytics

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct Commercial pricing, rate setting and rate filing, forecasting, budgeting, and estimating risk adjustment and risk transfer payment amounts.
  • Responsible for monthly Line of Business analysis and ability to present key analyses with appropriate level of detail for senior leaders.
  • Collaborate across multiple departments to achieve organizational objectives
  • Maintain an understanding of the changing health care and actuarial trends and how they impact the work of pricing and valuation
  • Build and maintain relationships with other leaders across the organization including Product, Finance, Underwriting, Regulatory, Pharmacy, and outside the organization (CMS, provider groups)
  • Develops staff and team members in areas of analytic methods and tools, effective communication, project, and time management

Qualification & Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Social Science or a related field.
  • 5 years healthcare actuarial experience; Experience working with Medicare Advantage pricing and bid development.
  • Experience with writing queries in SQL or another programming language
  • Demonstrated experience applying project management skills in data-related and financial analysis projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Social Science or a related field.Upon hire: Fellow or Associate in the Society of Actuaries (FSA or ASA)
  • Experience certifying Commercial Rate Filing
  • Experience certifying the Medicare Advantage Bid
  • Experience with Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid revenue methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with managing professional staff who work independently on tasks and projects.
