Description

Seeking an experienced communications professional to support communications for the Medical Affairs organization. Assists the Medical Affairs Executive Director in developing and implementing external communications strategies to drive a positive reputation for our enterprise strategy, the role of Medical Affairs and our enterprise clinicians in enabling that strategy, and the clinical strategies owned by different programmatic areas within Medical Affairs, including women’s health, genomics, patient safety, and environmental resiliency. This position also develops and executes internal communications strategies that enlighten and engage colleagues in Medical Affairs and enterprise-wide about CVS Health’s clinical priorities, strategy and culture. The collaborative work required is highly visible, interesting, rewarding and fast-paced.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic communications plans that utilize internal/external channels and tactics to create awareness of CVS Health’s commitment to clinical offerings that improve outcomes, reduce costs, and increase access to health care.
  • Serve as communications lead for the women’s health/genomics, enterprise patient safety, and environmental resilience teams. In this role, provide strategic counsel, serve as a trusted advisor to executive leaders, and create content that elevates our commitment to these areas.
  • Help manage CVS Health content programs that showcase the impact and work of the Medical Affairs organization as an enterprise shared service.
  • Collaborate with teams in Enterprise Communications, including across lines of business, social media, external affairs, and internal comms, as well as with government affairs to create storytelling opportunities and increase visibility of our clinical impact.
  • Develop and manage social thought leadership programs for select members of the Medical Affairs leadership team, as needed. This includes identifying, securing and supporting internal and external speaking engagement opportunities for CMO of Women’s Health and Genomics.
  • Support key safety initiatives and recognitions, including the annual Culture of Patient Safety Survey and special moments like World Patient Safety Day.
  • Help create and activate internal events, including town halls and fireside chats in partnership with CRGs and lines of business, to showcase the important role of the Medical Affairs organization in helping CVS Health achieve its goals.
  • Explore opportunities to collaborate with external organizations, including non-profit partners and health care organizations, to promote the work CVS Health is doing to advance women’s health.
  • Shepherd communications through the appropriate review and quality control processes.
  • Understand and support the CVS Health enterprise brand in all communications.
  • Ensure that all communications are error-free, accurate, appropriately approved and consistent with CVS Health core values.

Qualification & Requirements

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • At least 7+ years of professional communications experience.
  • Health care industry experience.
  • Comfortable working with senior executives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong storytelling ability in multi-media formats.
  • Media relations and social media experience.
  • A creativity/innovation mindset.
  • Strong organization and project management skills with superior attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and with teams and flex when needed to new priorities/new internal clients.
  • Skill at managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
  • Commitment to quality while being able to prioritize and excel in a fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English or a related field.
