Description

The Senior Manager, Quality position oversees the activity and results for the Quality Assurance Team. The position supports end-to-end product quality oversight at 3 DCs (Distribution Centers). The position also manages quality control over our re-manufacturing and refurbishment lines (Toner Cartridges, Printers, etc.) as well as finished goods at the warehouses. The role creates an environment of collaboration and respect among various departments throughout the warehouse. Using strong communication skills, key metrics, and lean tools, this role builds new processes and cost-down solutions for the company, as well as provides the necessary performance management opportunities for employees.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management

  • Provide overall leadership and support to quality shared service activities for Brother International Corporation (BIC) and Brother Industries (BIUS) operations
  • Manage and monitor staff to ensure all quality standards are met in production, refurbishment, processes, and overall outputs
  • Plan quality assurance shared service staffing needs and allocation requirements to support business needs
  • Manage and assist with the development of quality assurance processes and procedures, process audits, as well as recognizing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Drive the implementation and use of robust quality assurance tools, including SPC (Statistical Process Control), Six Sigma, and root cause analysis to identify and address quality issues
  • Lead staff and participate in the proactive review of non-conformance reduction initiatives
  • Provide thoughtful input to help drive down production and supplier non-conformance through collaborative actions for both long-and short-term solutions
  • Define key performance indicators that provide insights on quality deliverables, efficiency of testing processes, and overall health of the team
  • Maintain required ISO 9001:2015 certification
  • Drive problem solving for key quality issues using lean processes
  • Develop & execute quality tools, processes, projects with influencing manufacturing teams to improve product quality
  • Deliver improvements to the bottom line through Product failure improvement
  • Manage the product item master and pallet configurations in SAP
  • Responsible for product moving in & out of inventory QI hold and resolution.
  • Lead the warehouse quality processes for compliance customer service improvement

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement and align with overall corporate objectives
  • Analyze current product quality processes, procedures and analytics using lean tools
  • Utilize data and analysis tools to identify opportunities for improvement and informed decision-making processes
  • Translate data insight into actionable recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Monitor and audit processes, materials, and product testing against established standards, identifying deficiencies and developing solutions to ensure robust quality processes.
  • Provide guidelines for the implementation of quality agreements and compliance with key quality systems.
  • Optimize inspection processes to comply with existing and/or newly established requirements

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure all quality assurance processes comply with internal policies and external regulatory requirements, including ISO, and other applicable standards
  • Conduct internal audits and inspections to assess compliance with quality standards and industry regulations
  • Maintain effective communication with Parent Company in Japan as necessary and oversee product rework and/or corrections when needed

Budget and Strategic Planning

  • Manage the formulation of business plans, including setting targets and performance indicators as it pertains to QA and its responsibilities
  • Develop Quality Assurance operations, staffing, and business solutions that provide cost down opportunities while increasing quality
  • Create and maintain accurate budgets and forecasts for Toner Recovery activities

Qualification & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or similar experience Preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years Required

A combination of experience spanning the following areas:

  • Experience managing the quality assurance function for an organization
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives in an operations and service environment
  • Experience performing analysis of data and various complex business processes using lean tools in a production or warehouse environment

Licenses and Certifications

  • ASQ CMQ/OE Certification Required
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Preferred

Software/Technical Skills

  • MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) Intermediate Required
