Director Operational Excellence – Corporate Administrative Operations Excellence

Key Responsibilities

Under the direction of the VP, Chief Operational Excellence Officer for PSH, the Director, Operational Excellence is responsible for planning, monitoring, and directing the effective implementation of initiatives that drive tangible organizational results. The Director supports development of process acumen throughout the system and ensures that all staff coach others in order to spread their expertise. The Director is responsible for managing and coordinating enterprise-wide solutions that help Penn State Health achieve its strategic and operational objectives. This position will organize and oversee efforts directed through senior leadership of PSH that address strategic planning, continuous improvement, waste reduction, and innovation. Supports the creation of a lean management system to ensure operational excellence can be achieved throughout the enterprise – both in clinical and business areas. Using well established management principles and concepts the Director ensures achievement in operational and financial performance in partnership with senior leadership.

Qualification & Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 10 years of directly related experience
  • 4-6 years of healthcare experience leading the development of a lean management system
  • Five years of leadership and management experience in leading operational excellence teams
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification (Black Belt/MBB) or equivalent required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Master’s degree (MBA or other similar)
  • Experience in curriculum development, teaching and instruction
  • Experience as a healthcare management consultant
  • Prior experience building and leading a team that is part of a transformation effort
  • Experience in developing and driving implementation of business strategies within the Healthcare industry
  • Experience building and leading a high performing operational excellence program in an academic health system
