Description

The Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency (KRESA) is a critical part of Michigan’s education system serving the Greater Kalamazoo region and provides specialized services to schools and communities and optimizes resources by centralizing innovative programs and services. We partner with school districts and the broader community to offer essential programs including early childhood education, special education, career learning, and educator development, ensuring that learners of all ages receive the support they need.

We are currently seeking a Director of Technology at the KRESA Service Center in Portage, Michigan.

Director of Technology

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Vision: Support KRESA’s strategic plan and develop data-driven goals and strategies to continuously improve services to KRESA and our partner districts.
  • Technology Management: Oversee the technology shared service department (SW MiTech), ensuring optimal performance of hardware, software, and network infrastructure across all districts.
  • Professional Development: Provide training, coaching, and support for technology staff to ensure that they are highly effective in their roles
  • Policy and Procedure Development: Create and maintain standard operating procedures to enhance efficiency and resource use.
  • Data Management: Ensure data integrity and security, coordinating the collection and submission of district data.
  • Disaster Recovery: Develop and monitor disaster recovery plans, including server backups.
  • Budget and Resource Allocation: Manage the technology budget to ensure efficient use of resources. Apply for grant opportunities that enhance technology in the districts we serve.
  • Contract Management: Manage vendor and shared service contracts and agreements
  • Standardization: Develop and promote the use of standard back-end hardware and software across districts to enhance interoperability and inefficiencies
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with superintendents, administrators, and other stakeholders to align technology initiatives with district goals.
  • Security Management: Implement and monitor cybersecurity measures to protect district data and infrastructure. Manage cyber security incident response.
  • Project Management: Lead technology projects, ensuring they meet goals and timelines.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an accurate inventory of all district technology equipment.
  • Support and Maintenance: Ensure the repair and upgrade of hardware, networks, and software.
  • Collaboration: Lead regular collaborative meetings with area school district technology leaders. Participate in statewide ISD/RESA METL meetings and workgroups.
  • Customer Service: Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through resolving end-user issues quickly and respectfully
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualification & Requirements

Qualified candidates will have a Masters Degree in Technology Leadership or related field with related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. MSBO CTO Certification preferred.
