Description

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Director Pharmacy Shared Service Operations

Key Responsibilities

The Provincial Pharmacy Shared Service will include a Provincial Pharmacy that will be providing provincially coordinated pharmacy services to support SDO pharmacy programs and the health system at large including purchasing, warehousing, packaging, compounding, transporting, and inventory management of publicly funded drugs through the health system.

Under the direction of the Executive Director Provincial Pharmacy Shared Services, the Director – Provincial Pharmacy Operations will lead and manage the Provincial Pharmacy Operations.

In addition, they will be a key member of the Pharmacy Shared Service leadership team to support the effective and responsive services that enable innovative and sustainable health services in the area of drug distribution, drug supply, technology and provincial clinical and quality standards.

Qualification & Requirements

Experience

  • 5 years of experience managing a client service focused team in the delivery of enterprise-wide pharmacy management functions focused on all aspects of drug distribution, in a large publicly funded multi-enterprise network, preferably in the health or public sector, including:
  • 5 years of middle to senior management experience including leading services planning, developing and implementing approved operating plans
  • 5 years of experience creating and leading collaborative teams; building capacity and engaging in individual and team performance management
  • 5 years of experience influencing senior management, key stakeholders
  • 5 years of experience working with pharmacy purchasing, distribution systems and equipment (e.g., SAP, BDM, Distribution platforms such as PYXIS)
  • 3 years of experience leading distribution and logistics business transformation including applying process and materials handling improvement frameworks (e.g. LEAN, Kanban, or Six Sigma), setting up centralized warehousing with decentralized distribution, and balancing inventory with fiscal stewardship and sustaining consistent supply
  • 3 years of experience in demand planning and forecasting, inventory management, and implementing current warehouse and materials handling technologies (e.g. RFID tracking) to support optimal supply and distribution of products and equipment

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Post-secondary degree in Pharmacy is required
  • Post-secondary degree in a related discipline such as health administration, business administration, or finance from an accredited educational institution is an asset
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Must be an active member in good standing of a pharmacy regulatory body
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle for regular travel within the province

Qualifications And Skills

  • Demonstrated mid-level leadership capabilities. The provincial health system in Manitoba has adopted the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework.
  • Comprehensive understanding of pharmacy structures and operating models, day to day operations and standard policies and practices is an asset
  • Comprehensive understanding of transformation within the health system is an asset
