Description

The Vice President of HR Technology and Operations will lead critical functions that support the organization’s HR operations, including HR Services, HR Compliance, HR Analytics, and HR systems. This role also encompasses oversight of HR systems design and shared services delivery. Reporting directly to the CHRO, this strategic and hands-on leader will ensure operational excellence and provide full technical ownership of the Workday platform. The role requires a visionary leader who can drive innovation, foster collaboration, and deliver results that align with the organization’s mission and values.

VP, HR Technology and Operations

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for HR Services, HR Compliance, HR Analytics, HR systems design and performance, and onboarding/offboarding processes.
  • Align technology and operational strategies with business objectives to support organizational growth and effectiveness.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, ensuring alignment on technology and operational priorities.
  • Partner with IT on cyber security and data breach prevention, Information Security, and Business Continuity planning.
  • Oversee development of data standards, definitions of data elements, and prescribed security rules, with verification reporting to confirm accuracy.
  • Partner with HR leadership on Governance Model needs, aligning security trees inside of HCM respectively.

HR Systems Design and Delivery:

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of comprehensive HR technology solutions that support the organization’s strategic objectives.
  • Ensure seamless integration and functionality of all HR systems, including HRIS, ATS, LMS, Reward and Recognition, Benefits, Well-Being, Compensation, and employee engagement platforms.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure systems align with broader technological infrastructure and data security standards.

Central HR Shared Services:

  • Develop and manage a centralized HR shared services model that delivers high-quality, efficient services to employees through MSS and ESS solutions and a service model approach with an escalation to subject matter experts in centers of expertise.
  • Leverage job aides and training materials provided by HCM to ensure roles and responsibilities are clear to Managers and Employees.
  • Implement standardized HR processes and policies to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization, measure the effectiveness of programs including data insights for utilization and forecasted planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and employee satisfaction.

People Analytics:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a people analytics strategy to provide actionable insights and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Mature HR data capabilities from operational reporting to generating strategic insights that drive business decisions: standardized and customized dashboards and reporting.
  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of HR data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with HR leaders to use data insights to inform talent management, workforce planning, and organizational development initiatives.

Workday Platform Ownership:

  • Take full technical ownership of the Workday platform, overseeing implementation, configuration, proper testing tenants, and tests to be performed to ensure flawless execution.
  • Oversee optimization of HCM modules and assessment of functional capability between HCM and other bolt-on sources.
  • Partner with business units to deploy new Workday modules and features, maximizing the platform’s value.
  • Advise on business usage of HCM modules for documentation needs for personnel files and records retention needs including federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Lead the development of robust analytics capabilities to meet operational needs.

Operational Excellence:

  • Design and implement efficient processes to ensure compliance, data security, and system integrity – report to executives through SLT Dashboards on effectiveness of areas above.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures to support team cross-training and operational continuity.
  • Oversee production support, identifying opportunities to outsource tasks where appropriate.
  • Enhance onboarding processes to ensure new hires experience a seamless and efficient integration into the organization.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager of HR Services to ensure HR Generalists’ efforts align with organizational goals and provide indirect strategic support.

Team Leadership:

  • Develop short- and long-term strategies, road maps, and objectives for the team based on key stakeholder input and feedback on business needs, Board, SLT, HRLT, IT, Payroll, etc.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team, fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture.
  • Inspire team members through coaching, celebrating successes, and holding the team to high standards.
  • Set clear vision and objectives, empowering the team to achieve exceptional results.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Partner with the Mergers & Acquisitions team to integrate new companies onto the Workday platform.
  • Point of contact for all HR Systems and Data requests from Sponsors, The Board, and SLT.
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships and lead governance and contracting efforts.
  • Communicate complex technical information effectively to non-technical stakeholders.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure all system changes adhere to internal controls and compliance standards.
  • Develop configurations in system for automation to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws for functional areas supported.
  • Oversee the monitoring and management of over 50 integrations across HCM and Payroll.
  • Assess IT general controls and IT-dependent controls, aligning them with organizational needs.

Qualification & Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • 15+ years of leadership experience with a proven ability to inspire and develop teams.
  • At least 5 years of experience with in-depth knowledge of Workday HCM.
  • 10 years of service standing up and running an HR Shared Services Operations.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes such as onboarding, HR Generalist functions, total rewards, payroll, and compliance.
  • Ability to align technology and operations with business goals and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ability to collaborate, inspire, and hold others accountable.
  • Proven ability to work across a matrix and multi-site environment.
  • Experience supporting senior management including thought leadership and support.
  • Collaborative style as a thought partner who works productively with the leadership team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and ability to support strategic transformation activities.
  • Exhibition of the highest ethical standards while demonstrating accountability and ownership.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in homecare, healthcare, or healthcare services preferred.
