Description

The VP of Operations, FacilitiGroup, is responsible for the long term strategy as well as the day-to-day operations of facility management in all acute care facilities and ambulatory surgery centers through the Facility Management as a Shared Service program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring that each facility is being maintained and operated to FacilitiGroup standards.
  • Ensure all available capital is utilized in the most effective manner to minimize business risks and interruptions.
  • When key performance indicator goals are not met, provide plans for improvement and/or allocation of capital as needed and track operational effectiveness of the instituted improvement or capital investment.
  • Responsible for success of regulatory programs that involve life safety and environment of care. When deficiencies are found, create a actionable plans and verify results of said plans
  • Ensure Monthly Operating Reviews (MORs) are developed and delivered at the Facility Level, Division Level, Group level, and the Healthtrust Leadership level, and are an effective review of the Shared Service delivery model.
  • Serve facility administrative teams and staff by providing a compliant, safe and effective environment of care for our patients, staff and visitors to maximize the hospital staff’s ability to focus on patient care.
  • Coordinate onsite assistance to facilities that are experiencing a disaster such as a hurricane, earthquake, etc. through use of the market staffing resources, national contracts and integration within the corporate EEOC team.
  • Develop policy and standards utilizing knowledge of regulatory requirements, such as those adopted/enforced by The Joint Commission, CMS, NFPA, OSHA and other authorities having jurisdiction, to aid in continual survey readiness and code compliance.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to correct infrastructure operability problems as well as ensure MEP design guidelines properly address reoccurring problems found in the field.
  • Provide, in coordination with HealthTrust Senior Management, HCA Senior Management and Group executive leadership teams with regular updates regarding program progress, efficiency, and key operational risks with their facilities as well as infrastructure capital needs.
  • Provide assistance to HCA planning and engineering consultants to ensure that new construction and/or renovation projects consider the long term facility needs and that decisions are made that minimize operational impact to the facility.
  • Provide technical guidance and serve as a subject matter expert for facility management personnel around operations, maintenance, service and repair of infrastructure equipment.
  • Coordinate oversight and provide technical guidance to support facilities during infrastructure utility losses.
  • Coordinate oversight and provide technical guidance to support facilities during emergency remediation efforts, through vendor/contractor acquisition, moisture mapping, remediation, and support of build back efforts.
  • Develop, and oversee implementation of, plans, policies and strategic direction that will impact the 2500+ facility management and support employees that fall under the VP of Facility Management’s organizational umbrella.
  • Coordinate with corporate resources to develop standardized facility management staffing models and create appropriate training and evaluation tools for those positions.
  • Oversee the hiring, training and evaluation of corporate and market-based facility management.
  • Continual communication with key team members to identify succession planning needs and develop future leaders in facility management.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures which continually improve the condition and quality of the facilities in order to reduce risks and improve competitive abilities.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize shared service offerings and look for opportunities where new division/group/enterprise lines of shared service can be financially advantageous.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize MRO contracts/programs and look for opportunities where new division/group/enterprise contracting can be leveraged.
  • Continual development of both staff and one’s self through training and learning on the job, to provide upward mobility and growth in the future.
  • Continual input as subject matter expert for improvement and upkeep of all FacilitiGroup applications and resources such as Engineering Central, Complyos, HCAFI, etc.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Four year (Bachelor) degree in engineering or related field required. Mechanical or electrical engineering preferred
  • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in a leadership role involving facility management in acute care facilities of which at least five (5) years in a senior leadership role involving multiple facilities.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer, Certified Healthcare Facility Manager and/or Certified Healthcare Engineer are preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and apply knowledge of regulatory and code requirements such as those imposed by NFPA, ASHRAE, FGI, IBC and CMS in order to develop policies and procedures that create an effective environment of care.
  • Physically capable and available to work overtime including weekends, public holidays and evenings or nights, in the case of emergencies or natural disasters.
  • Ability to coordinate afterhours work with both internal staff and outside vendors, while working in an active hospital.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to solve complex and dynamic problems from a system wide perspective.
  • Self – motivated and a strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to reference facility blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary and divulge meaningful information to appropriate technicians, contractors etc.
  • Proficient in major Microsoft office suite applications as well as CMMS software.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all facets of the organization.
