We are excited to offer an opportunity for a dynamic and experienced leader to take responsibility for Huntsman’s financial accounting activities across Europe. Based in the heart of Krakow, this role will report to the GBS Hub Leader / Regional Accounting Director EMEA. As the Head of Accounting and Reporting EMEA, you will lead a team of 5 direct reports and approximately 25 indirect reports, ensuring the highest standards of financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Managing the accounting operations for around 50 legal entities across more than 15 countries, you will play a key role in maintaining financial controls, compliance with company policies, and adherence to US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley regulations. You will ensure your teams operate to the highest standards, proactively manage risk areas, provide solutions, and implement process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

As a Head of Accounting & Reporting EMEA, you will:

  • Lead and manage the accounting and statutory reporting teams (5 direct reports and approximately 25 indirect).
  • Oversee end-of-period processes, including monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and reliable financial and operational reporting.
  • Develop and mentor accounting staff to ensure professional growth and succession planning.
  • Ensure timely, accurate preparation and review of financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and local GAAPs.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Ensure standardization in accounting processes across the region.
  • Maintain adherence to internal and external accounting guidelines.
  • Lead compliance efforts related to Sarbanes-Oxley, corporate policies, and finance manuals.
  • Provide financial insights and support for business decision-making.
  • Manage communication with external parties, including auditors, regulatory bodies, and financial institutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting department.
  • Implement process enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Build and maintain a high-performing accounting team.
  • Provide coaching and guidance in key accounting areas.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Masters degree in Finance or Accounting related.
  • ACCA certification is a plus
  • 10+ years of controllership, accounting and/or audit experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and local GAAPs, with experience managing statutory financial statements and audits.
  • Proven track record as a strong leader of a diverse group of associates and the ability to effectively coach and develop a team.
  • Excellent knowledge of English is required.
  • Proficiency in SAP is required.
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across business functions and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive process improvement.
  • Strong relationship management and influencing skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to dynamic business priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed, cross-cultural environment.
