Description
The Driskill joined the Hyatt family of hotels in 2013 and has become a benchmark for the new Unbound Collection by Hyatt. Since its opening in 1886 the hotel has been an integral part of the fabric in the City of Austin. The Assistant Director of Finance at the Driskill offers a great opportunity to refine leadership skills for a future Director of Finance role within Hyatt!
This position is responsible for the oversight of the Hotel’s Finance operations and supports the Director of Finance. Additionally, this person will be responsible for efficiently running the Finance department to be in-line with Hyatt Corporate standards while meeting guest, colleague and owner expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee hotel on-site finance team and off-site Shared Services support staff to ensure compliance with Hyatt standards. This includes accounting, timely month end closings, financial statement presentation, analysis, budget preparation, legal agreements and operations management.
- Daily supervision of the Finance, Purchasing and Information Technology functions to include training, coaching and counseling and evaluation of colleagues to reflect Hyatt standards.
- Prepare and review journal entries necessary to complete the month-end closing.
- Review and approve group credit applications and assist in accounts receivable collections.
- Participate in the monthly financial reviews and assist the Leadership Committee with the presentation of required reports.
- Participate in Leadership Committee meetings, strategy meetings, asset management meetings.
- Manage the internal audit and the year-end audit process to include preparation, review and approval of all reconciliations and audit work papers.
- Facilitate special reporting and analysis projects as requested.
Qualification & Requirements
- Hospitality or Accounting degree preferred
- 5 years or more of Hotel Finance management experience required
- Prior Oracle, Opera, MICROS, Dimensions, and Hyatt systems expertise desired
- Must be an advanced user of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Must possess the following strengths: high energy, motivated leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line
- Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English
- Must have excellent organizational, administrative and problem-solving skills
