Description

We have an opening for a Risk Management Director. This pivotal role involves directing all aspects of our organization’s insurance program and risk management function. This position requires close coordination with leadership to ensure risk management strategies align with organizational objectives and strategic initiatives of our business partners and the organization as a whole. The successful candidate will be flexible, creative, and capable of supporting our long-term vision while adeptly navigating change.

The Risk Management department is part of Dart Finance Shared Services, which provides specialized tax, treasury, risk management, and internal audit services to Dart affiliated entities across a diverse range of industries, including hospitality, manufacturing, and real estate management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with DFSS business partners to define long-term risk management programs.
  • Determine the insurance structure between third-party insurers and captive utilization.
  • Develop reporting and analytics to ensure total cost of risk visibility.
  • Lead strategy discussions, negotiations, and placement of global insurance coverage.
  • Manage broker relationships and serve as the primary contact with insurance carriers.
  • Review risk-related and insurance-related contract provisions to avoid improper risk assumption.
  • Participate in the management and oversight of Dart’s captive insurance company.
  • Aggregate and contextualize risk information for relevant stakeholders.
  • Drive a culture of risk awareness through process, people, and system changes.
  • Identify and quantify key and emerging risks to the organization.
  • Oversee agreements and performance of third-party service providers.
  • Support the VP of Risk and Audit in developing and overseeing Enterprise Risk Management projects.

Qualification & Requirements

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business, finance, insurance, risk management or related field of study
  • Requires one of the following:
    • Advanced certification in Risk Management (e.g. CRM, ARM, CPCU, or other relevant professional certification)
    • Master’s degree with an emphasis in business, finance, insurance, risk management or related field of study
  • Risk industry knowldge in the areas of: captive insurance programs, commercial lines of property, casualty and workers’ compensation programs, and claims management to include setting and executing strategy
  • Demonstrated management experience to include overseeing work, staff development, performance management, etc. for a team
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain risk and insurance concepts
  • Excellent analytical and reasoning skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including the ability to create complex spreadsheets or Power BI.
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused work environment characterized by rapid change, minimal lead times, and multiple competing priorities
  • Up to 50% domestic travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business, finance, insurance, risk management or related field of study
  • Experience leading managers
  • Experience with high-deductible insurance programs, large claim portfolios across multiple jurisdictions
  • Knowledge and experience implementing data-driven risk enterprise management programming integrating various technology tools and systems, including risk management information systems
