Description
This role involves managing the overseas finance and shared services teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with group and statutory requirements for our dissolving pulp business. Key duties include overseeing the financial close process, reviewing journal entries, preparing consolidated financial statements, resolving intercompany discrepancies, and managing the annual audit. The position also involves liaising with external auditors, tax agents, and regulatory bodies while driving process improvements and supporting budgeting, tax filings, and forecasting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and guide the overseas finance team and shared service team in financial close processes, ensuring the accurate and timely processing, recording, and reporting of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial information in compliance with financial reporting standards and Group reporting requirements.
- Review journal entries, including accruals, deferrals, and reclassifications, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Review consolidated group financial statements and other supporting schedules and listings required by the Group.
- Prepare and present reviews and analyses of monthly and quarterly statutory financial reports.
- Investigate and resolve intercompany differences and ensure accurate bank reconciliations.
- Oversee the annual financial audit process and ensure the completion of annual audited financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with tax filing deadlines, audits, banking and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Coordinate and liaise effectively with external auditors, tax agents, banks, and government authorities to ensure smooth operations.
- Drive continuous improvement by streamlining and standardizing work processes and system enhancements.
- Provide recommendations to ensure best practice in financial accounting.
- Assist with compilation of financial information for preparation of tax returns, annual budgets and forecast financial information.
Qualification & Requirements
- 6 to 12 years of relevant experience with exposure to group consolidation, preferably with prior Big 4 experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or Finance. Certified CA/CPA qualified preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and accounting/group consolidation knowledge.
- Excellent project management skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet dynamic business requirements and tight reporting timelines.
- Proficiency in SAP and a strong understanding of financial systems and processes.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop team members and work across multi-cultural/multi-functional team.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin to communicate effectively with Chinese-speaking internal and external stakeholders.
