Job Overview

The Department of Human Resources is recruiting for a Sr. Director – HR Operations. The Sr. Director will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive system of HR initiatives ensuring value-added and efficient processes. This position is ultimately accountable for the development, implementation, evaluation, and improvements of the client interaction framework.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Act as an integral part of the leadership team by developing effective working relationships, influencing the management team in support of the business area and HR strategies. Play an integral part in decision making procedures and actions in collaboration with HR Leadership.
  • Direct HR Shared Services staff by assigning and monitoring work, conducting audits, evaluating staff, and processing data.
  • Provide advice and counsel to employees, supervisors, and administrators on Human Resource policy, performance, and disciplinary matters.
  • Develop standard operating guidelines and procedures that proactively support efficient and effective service delivery to the business units.
  • Develop, maintain and facilitate informal training programs to promote understanding of systems and related processes. Provide guidance to ensure proper process and workflow.
  • Assist in the creation and monitoring of performance metrics for central and decentral system users. Perform research and in-depth data analysis.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of services and performance against benchmarks to ensure best practice approach; compile data; prepare and summarize reports.
  • Liaise and collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence on best practices and issues pertaining to internal and external business units.
  • Must maintain confidentiality with high level of integrity. Responsible for accurate and timely storage of HR-related documents in accordance with UC’s Records Retention Schedule.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Required Experience

Seven (7) years of Human Resources experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Experience in a higher education environment.
  • A proven track record of success in all aspects of human resources administration including organizational development, problem solving, change management, succession planning, HRIS, compensation management and human resource administration and training.
  • Experience managing and leading client-focused shared services.

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
