Purpose: The member of the Elanco Service Center leadership team owns global R2R service delivery, with responsibility for the Global Process and execution of R2R processes (including month-end close, reconciliations, journal entry and processing, etc). The R2R Director will manage teams to deliver the service within the agreed upon Service Level Agreement (SLA’s) and play a significant role in the client/customer escalation protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Process Expertise and Business Partnership

  • Leadership of the Record to Report organization within the ESC.
  • Appropriate resource allocation and organizational design.
  • Be a champion to drive standardization across the R2R process
  • Lead a team of Regional Managers to execute the R2R process.
  • Establish strong relationships with the Business, Operations, Procure-to-Pay and Order-to-Cash functions and IT leaders, including a structured cadence for regular interaction and two-way feedback
  • Understand Business and Operations needs, structure, expectations of internal and external customers, and be the bridge between the Business and process design and execution
  • Understand system architecture, including ERP, add-ons, enablers, and interfaces, and be the voice of the ESC, Business, and Operations with IT
  • Determine the strategic balance between service levels and process efficiency
  • Define / design the standard global process during implementation

Process Governance:

  • Demonstrate a strong Continuous Improvement oriented approach & help to build a strong Continuous Improvement culture
  • Establish and manage a governance process to evaluate and approve process localization / customization requests
  • Ensure adequate process documentation and training materials are developed and maintained, and provide user education and training
  • Proactively monitor and anticipate changing business, regulatory, and financial requirements, processes, and practice
  • Drive process compliance at both business and execution levels and establish processes to monitor and address non-standard activities
  • Establish, monitor, and report end-to-end process metrics and KPIs to measure service levels, operational effectiveness, process health, and process compliance
  • Identify, implement, and monitor projects for ongoing process improvement initiatives, utilizing leading business processes and technologies

Controls:

  • Ensure prioritization and encourage a culture of compliance with SOx and other internal controls requirements
  • Coordinate with SOx leaders to ensure process design appropriately addresses key control requirements and risk mitigation
  • Integrate controls into process documentation and training materials
  • Support internal and external auditors and own coordination of action plans where audit procedures identify areas of potential risk or control weakness

Qualification & Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in General Accounting
  • Proven analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Proven control orientation based on prior operational business roles
  • Ability to travel globally at least once a quarter
  • Ability to work across cultures and across diverse management styles
  • Fluency in English

Additional Skills / Preferences:

  • CPA certification, CA or equivalent
  • Master’s Degree / MBA qualification
  • Experience with SAP
  • Prior experience as part of an ERP implementation team
  • Prior experience with Shared Services Operations
  • Fluency in European language(s) is a plus
