Description
The Director of Strategy and Project Management serves as a key leader of marketing and communications strategy for the Geisel School of Medicine and the Medical and Healthcare Advancement office. The position is dedicated to bringing strategic focus, cohesion, and coordination to our shared work, enabling the wider team to execute best-of-industry communications and marketing strategies in the smartest, most efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities
The Director leads the implementation of communications strategy, project management, and client relationships spanning the school and the advancement office, bringing strategic focus, direction, and results to a wide range of marketing and communications needs across a diversity of audiences. The Director brings strong leadership skills and an ability to both motivate and track progress across numerous projects, deliverables, and timelines to deliver the best possible solution to organizational needs on time, on budget, and of the highest quality.

- Demonstrated leadership skills with exceptional ability to manage, influence, and motivate.
- Exceptional ability to navigate competing priorities and develop creative solutions to realize the impactful outcomes while achieving the most efficient use of resources.
- Exceptional project management ability, including the ability to track against competing priorities amid constrained resources.
- Proven track record of driving organizational transformation, with focus on relationships and partnership.
- Expertise as a manager of individuals and teams in a complex organizational environment.
- Demonstrated track record of forging partnerships across a breadth of organizational structures.
- Proven track record of relationship building and collaboration with internal and external partners. Ability to serve as an ambassador of the school and the advancement office as needed.
- Strategic orientation with a deep understanding of audience engagement and demonstrated ability to align key business objectives with marketing/communications strategy.
- Initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to meet deadlines while successfully managing a high-volume workload and prioritizing among multiple projects.
- Experience in leading and participating in collaborative teams.
- Brings a sense of joy to the workplace.
- Ability to handle sensitive and highly confidential information with discretion and judgment.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to respectful communication and collaboration within a diverse community.
Experience
- 10-15 years of leadership experience managing diverse teams across complex, multifaceted initiatives in a complex organizational environment.
- Depth of experience in a client/partner relationship management capacity, including
- Experience with project management and intake systems (e.g. Wrike, Monday).
- Demonstrated experience assessing and translating organizational needs to delivered solutions, on-time, on budget, and of the highest quality.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience
- Experience in a healthcare, research, or higher education environment.
- Experience with marketing automation systems.
- Experience with enterprise CRM /database systems
Education
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- PMP or similar certification a plus.
