Description

The Guys and St Thomas London procurement shared service  team within GSTT are looking for a experienced procurement leader to join our team as the Director of procurement , based in Lewisham hospital. This is a senior role,  that is required to manage the relationship with a partner member of the shared service. the postholder will be the leading expert embedded in the team at Lewisham.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and  clearly explain complex procurement matters to non-procurement stakeholders in ways that bring procurement to life.

The post holder is responsible for the overall management of the Procurement department, site based, service where GSTFT provide procurement services. Leading a dynamic Procurement team that will provide the expertise that will ensure that the Shared Service delivers the requirements of the Shared Service for Lewisham. Responsible for managing the relationship between the Shared Service and their partner member, Lewisham NHS Trust

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for proposing, developing and implementing all Procurement policies and procedures for the service, ensuring that they support the NHS Trust where the service is based and Management services across the NHS Trusts where GSTFT provide procurement services,
  • Responsible for continually analysing and proposing strategy/ policy changes where required changes to the service/ organisation
  • Responsible as the manager for the management of the procurement service where the service is based and Management services across the NHS Trusts where GSTFT provide procurement services,
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing management of customer surveys and service level agreements with internal customers
  • To work as required in clinical areas in partnership with leading clinicians. Providing guidance and professional advice where required
  • Responsible for managing conflict between lead clinicians and the service. A key requirement of this post is that of a relationship manager, the post holder is responsible for managing the balance service whilst considering all relevant drivers involved.
  • Responsible for the implementation and continual administration of all service model audit requirements. Including clinical and non clinical product surveys in partnership with the Director of Supply Chain and Sourcing / Contract Management.

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of the service long term plans across the service. Ensuring at all times that they are revised regularly to ensure that they align with service financial and standards requirements
  • Accountable to the Trust, in partnership with Director of Supply Chain and Sourcing / Contract Management. for always maintaining safe stock levels for all clinical areas across both Trusts.  Including product recalls, product standardisation, supply during major incidents/ unexpected peaks in demand
  • Responsible for the communication for all service related information to staff at all levels across the NHS Trusts where GSTFT provide procurement services, Including the use of advanced negotiation, persuasive, motivational, and reassurance skills, where significant change is required
  • Responsible for the preparation and delivery of formal complex presentations to large groups of internal or external audiences
  • Responsible for the development and management of business relationships with senior staff in the NHS Trusts where GSTFT provide the relevant procurement services.

Qualification & Requirements

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Qualified or has equivalent experience in same or similar role
  • Relevant experience in relationship management at all levels

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of producing high level papers, including board papers
  • Experience of managing areas of conflict where tack and diplomacy are required

Role skills

Essential criteria
  • Necessary skills requirements when a managing Service Level Agreement
  • Required skills when developing and implementing Strategies, policies and procedures
