Description
This position directs the associate director of operations, the operations managers team, and the value-based contract team, and a project manager.
Key Responsibilities
Drives Practice Transformation & Innovation
- Leads innovation efforts to better position the Primary Care Network for success in the next decade. This includes work re-design to support remote and asynchronous work, redefining job responsibilities, and the evolution of the Primary Care Network to an enterprise that delivers service outside the traditional hours of operation both digitally and within brick-and-mortar practices.
Directs Practice Operations
- Responsible for creating a culture of teamwork and excellence across all 42 practices (comprising approximately 600 SMH, and HH employees) within the primary care network. Oversees staff onboarding and training, develops practice workflows, drives operational efficiency, improves patient satisfaction, and promotes staff engagement. Responsible for aligning operations with Primary Care strategy.
Grows Primary Care Revenue
- Leads high-priority projects with considerable potential for improving financial performance, such as Medicare Annual Wellness and Transitional Care Management visits. This includes assessing payer requirements and regulations, developing Primary Care strategy, collaborating with the United Billing Office (UBO), training staff and briefing faculty on opportunities and workflows. Develops reporting dashboards and communicates regularly with Primary Care Executive Leadership Team on performance.
Optimizes Performance Under Value-Based Contracts.
- Develops and implements strategies to improve performance under value-based contracts with United Health Care, MVP, Fidelis, and the Empire Plan. These include several quality/care gap closure programs and hierarchical condition coding initiatives of the Primary Care Service Line.
- This position is responsible for setting performance targets under each of the contracts and is accountable for achieving these targets.
Directs facilities planning
- Leads and manages all aspects of real estate, including lease coordination, Real Estate Services facility management, capital budgeting and the design process for new sites or re-design of existing property. Tracks and seeks to improve room utilization statistics. Integral to project manage any Primary Care network practice acquisitions.

Qualification & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- A master’s degree, equivalent course work, or specialized experience in an appropriate field related to the assignment is desirable.
- Ten years of relevant experience, including at least two years at a managerial level.
- Practice management experience
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Epic competency
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency and ability to learn new software and skills within a Windows-based environment (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access and SharePoint).
- Proficiency in data analytics.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities; strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment essential.
- Proven team member and ability to build stakeholder consensus in a complex environment.
- Ability to balance multiple demands and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must possess exceptional judgment and ability to learn the needs of different components of the UR Medicine Enterprise.
- Work independently with minimal guidance.
- Demonstrates efficiency in prioritizing assignments, skill in proactively resolving problems and recommending and implementing continuous quality improvement and strong organizational skills.
- Strong oral and written communications skills are essential.
- Deep knowledge of epic and excellent presentation skills.
