Description

The Director of Facilities will be responsible for the maintenance of two Banff Hotels and one Waterton property (including restaurants, retail, and commercial tenants), Banff/Waterton Staff Accommodation, and the Shared Services Office (Gopher Street).

Director, Facilities – Banff and Waterton

Key Responsibilities

This is senior management role reporting to the GM, Banff Lodging and Gondola for Banff Jasper Collection.

  • Directing maintenance operations including the leadership and supervision of all maintenance leaders, staff, and contractors.
  • Responsible for maintaining Pursuit’s safety standards and an active member of the Health and Safety team.
  • Facilitate the companies environmental goals through operational initiatives and long-range planning.
  • Routinely inspect interior and exterior spaces, equipment and work completed.
  • Manage engineering and maintenance concerns.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance and work order programs for all locations of responsibility.
  • Create and manage annual capital and operating budgets and monthly forecasts in collaboration with relevant department heads.
  • Manage department expenses and labor.
  • Recruit, hire, train, teach and develop maintenance team members and plan for succession.
  • Create a safe and engaged culture in the team and contribute positively to hospitality operations.
  • Develop relationships with suppliers and partners to ensure timely, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of services.
  • Collaborate with Hotel Managers for maintenance of hotels and commercial tenants.
  • Collaborate with the Housing Experience Manager for maintenance of Banff and Waterton Staff Accommodations.
  • Collaborate with the Office Manager for maintenance of the Shared Service Building.
  • Oversee the monitoring and maintenance all building systems.
  • Ensure shops and facilities are clean, stocked and kept in a professional working manner.
  • Perform maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Be on call for emergency response.
  • Complete special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Proven self starter with a passion for process improvement.
  • Knowledge of boilers, HVAC, building controls.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot problems, create and implement solutions.
  • Preference given to degrees Professional Engineer, Power Engineer, and/or ticketed trades.
  • Proven ability to lead capital
  • Leadership experience managing and developing teams (in a hospitality environment preferred).
  • Maintenance experience and hands-on trainer.
  • CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) experience, including system. administration, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Administrative skills including financial acumen.
  • Hospitable, professional, and strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of tools, procedures, technical skills and safety rules used in the maintenance and repair.
  • Good organizational skills with attention to timeliness and details.
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
  • Requires light lifting and carrying.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts including mornings, evenings, and weekends.

  • Certified Pool Operator Certificate (or willingness to do the training shortly after starting).
  • Valid Driver’s License
