Description
We are looking for a Director, Financial Information and Corporate Controller to join the Finance leadership team. In this role, you will be reporting directly to the Vice President and CFO and will collaborate closely with the other members of the MHIRJ Executive leadership team.
Your role will be to lead the team in charge of Accounting, consolidation and publication of and Financial Information, As well as the activities related to conformity and Tax. Additionaly, in your role, you will supervise the treasury and finance shared services teams. As such, you will play a key role in the vulgarisation of the financial information through analysis in order to make recommendation supporting the achievement of our financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the financial closing process (Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly) of all our legal entities;
- Manage & Communicate Month-end & Quarter-end close calendar
- Ensure disciplined execution of all month-end activities
- Quarterly:
- Prepare and review with CFO the Quarterly Accounting matters report
- Assist in the review of the quarterly litigation review with Legal
- Assist in the review of the CL&FI quarterly report
- Ensure timely upload of Financials to MHI SAP FC Consolidation system
- Direct the process of consolidation and reporting of financial information;
- Prepare Monthly Financial statements for presentation to CFO (preliminary and Final)
- Gather monthly FS narratives for discussion with CFO and FLT
- Ensure follow-up and disciplined compliance with all statutory reporting requirements for all legal entities.
- Ensure timely preparation of MHIRJ financial statements under US GAAP for MHIA
- Coordinate the external audit activities at year-end, and the quarterly interim.;
- Conduct Annual and/or quarterly Accounting regulations and norms change with KPMG
- Conduct pre-closing preparation meeting (quarterly, but more important at year-end)
- Review and acknowledge Audit report for continuous improvement
- Ensure proper controlling environment is in place (to be detailed)
- Act as responsible for financial conformity and support the SOX audit process.;
- Develop and communicate MHIRJ Accounting policies
- Review and acknowledge internal Audit report and implement MAP timely.
- Ensure proper controlling environment is in place (to be detailed)
- Analyze complex transactions in order to prepare and issue accounting statement of position in accordance with the IFRS norms;
- Review transaction and prepare accounting SOP as memo to file
- Coordinate in-depth review of transaction and accounting SOP with KPMG in advance of recording to books of records for approval.
- Keep central repository of all SOP with MHIRJ Accounting policies
- Direct the treasury and finance shared services teams (Payables, Receivables, T&E);
- Quarterly review of Finance SS and treasury
- Supervise our Tax advisors in the direct and indirect fiscal and transfer pricing deliverables;
- Manage and ensure full compliance for indirect taxes (TR One source)
- Manage and ensure compliance with all jurisdictions law and requirements where we conduct business
- Manage ULC income Tax filing (BDO)
- Manage Inc income Tax filing in cooperation with MHIA (BDO)
- Manage GmbH income Tax filing (BDO local)
- Manage Interco Transfer Pricing agreements
- Ensure continuous surveillance to evolving Tax regime to identify opportunities for Tax credits or other support programs, including R&D Tax credits (BDO)
- Support any Tax audit as requested.
- Ensure the integrity and the optimal utilization of our financial systems, including SAP S4 Hana;
- Follow-up with IBM on all remaining open Items from the SAP 2022 Go-Live
- Follow-up with IBM on current deployment of SAP in the Service Centers
- Assist where possible the SAP SAC planning module for Budget/FCST
- Provide oversight on Finance IT environment and ensure stability and change management, including peripheral applications (Kronos, One Source, etc…)
- Attract, develop and retain world-class financial talent within the organization.
- Recruit a solid Accounting manager for the Canadian entity and Consolidation with experience in : Audit, IFRS norms, Month-end close and Financial Consolidation.
- Support Head of FP&A in the recruitment of a manager accounting for the US entity (located in the service Center)
- Provide coaching on financial matters so that all employees have the opportunity to perform at the highest level.
Qualification & Requirements
As our ideal candidate,
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent;
- Hold an Accounting Designation (CPA); CA would be an asset;
- Have 10 years or more of experience in Accounting and Financial information consolidation or relevant experience;
- Have good knowledge of accounting norms;
- Possess leadership skills and oriented towards results;
- Have the ability to build and maintain mutually beneficial partnerships with peers, partners and customers;
- Have the ability to obtain buy-in from various users and able to exert influence to implement change;
- Have good judgement and the capacity to prioritize multiple projects concurrently, meeting tight deadlines and adapting to changing priorities;
- Have good verbal and written communication skills in French and English, as well as strong presentation skills;
- Have excellent knowledge of MS Office;
- Have knowledge of SAP, Corporate Performance management (CPM) applications and Consolidation applications (an asset).
