The AVP, Business Optimization & Governance – Financial Services role shepherds’ productivity, standardization and optimization efforts through Shared Services support that provides data-driven insights, improves efficiencies, and ensures connectedness in business processes and services. Inclusive of, but not limited to the following shared business functions: NF Operational Metrics & Analytics, Data Governance, and Automation.
Engages, inspires, and leads a high-performing team through coaching, training, development, and helping employees reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- takes an ownership role in the customer & partner experience through collaboration and co-creation of practices to support extraordinary care to our partners, advisors, and members.
- Develops long term vision and strategy for Shared Business Solutions including Data Governance, Operational Reporting and Metrics, and Automation. Tells the story of SBS through data-driven insights, governance enhancements and efficiencies gained via automation.
- Partners with technology to collaborate on and activate roadmap for tools, applications, and systems required for business automation and data governance services.
- Develops oversight, best practices, and governance, in partnership with technology and Enterprise Data Office (EDO) to the data solutions for NF business units including data governance and operational reporting. Meets EDO requirements for ensuring trusted, reliable, protected data driven strategies. Delivers accurate, reliable, secure data analysis and visualization in support of business unit strategic priorities.
- Drives efficiencies via identification and sponsorship of automation opportunities within the business lines. Participates in industry efforts to bring best of class practices to NF; establishes and maintains business technology relationships with service providers.
- Models continuous learning, curiosity, and growth-mindset by staying on top of industry trends, emerging technology, and market conditions. Actively participates in cross-functional committees to ensure NF alignment with enterprise strategic priorities and represent the voice of the NF customer.
- Accountable for effective management of business allocations. Develops and maintains project and operational budgets/forecast.
- Champions cross-functional, business unit, and Enterprise partnerships for services. Establishes, evolves, and leverages best-in-class approaches for reporting, data governance, and business automation services. Serves as NF expert on committees and councils (internally and externally), as appropriate.
- Sponsors and supports the delivery and execution for financial services initiatives, as appropriate.
- Builds engagement to grow high performing teams. Responsible for ongoing planning, goal setting, continuous improvement and managing the daily operations of the organizations. Assesses and develops talent. Accountable for maintaining a culture focused on development at all levels including providing guidance and development to direct reports.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Vice President, Shared Business Solutions – Financial Services. Leads a team of at least 3 Directors and approximately 75 total direct and indirect reports.
Qualification & Requirements
Education: Undergraduate studies in Business Administration, Computer Science or related field. Graduate studies preferred.
Experience: 10-15 years of experience in leadership, process automation, , project/program delivery or shared services. Strong knowledge of automation technologies, tools and applications including Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Citizen Process Automation (CPA), Machine Learning (ML), Task mining, Process mining, for business delivery. Experience in developing and implementing automation solutions and strategies. Strong analytical, problem solving, and collaboration skills used to identify automation opportunities and optimize business processes. Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies. Experience with a variety of functional areas and approaches, including identifying and realizing benefits of business outcomes to be delivered .15 or more years of experience in the financial services industry with a broad set of experiences across operations, sales and technology preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and lead both cross-functional teams and matrix partners. Proven ability to work with velocity and agility in response to changing business needs. Collaboration across diverse teams and stakeholders to identify needs and synthesize information to develop best practices for NF teams maximizing solving common problems with common solutions. Superior organizational and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate successfully with all levels in the organization. Ability to leverage data and insights to assess current operations and make data driven decisions. Ability to balance needs of business for new tools and technology with risk the new solutions introduce to our customers. Certifications in relevant automation, data, or reporting technologies, such as Automation Anywhere, Power BI, IBM Watson, Dataiku, WebFocus, Tableau, etc.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation skills to various levels of management. The ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment offering operational, consultative and governance services. Demonstrated skills in each of the future capabilities – Lead, Innovate, Adapt and Data & Digital.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.
